Sauteed Orange Ginger Garlic Dandelion Greens Drizzled over Cajun Prawns

At Cannalife Botanicals we like to turn to nature for health and use the medicinal plants we have growing in our organic garden for our hand crafted topicals.  We believe in using sacred plants in combination to achieve herbal synergy.

Synergy: the interaction of elements that when combined produce a total effect that is greater than the sum of the individual elements.

We also enjoy incorporating edible medicinal plants into our diets, especially when they are so readily available.

We have a few friends and family members battling cancer.  So we are always investigating  and seeking out new solutions and supports in their treatment regimes.

We recently read this article in the CBC about a $157K research grant to study a cancer killing dandelion tea!

And it inspired us to spread the word and learn more about this amazing plant so we can encourage others to add dandelions as a delicious, healthy addition to their diet.

The Dandelion, which literally translates into “lion’s tooth” in French, is rich in vitamin A, vitamin C, iron and calcium and detoxifiers which explains its common inclusion in medicines.

It has many health benefits including: relief from liver and gall bladder disorders, diabetes, urinary disorders, acne, jaundice, cancer, anemia to name a few.  This wonderful plant also helps to maintain bone health and support weight loss.

For Cancer: Dandelions are very high in antioxidants, such as vitamin-C and Luteolin, which can reduce the free radicals (major cancer-causing agents) in the body, thereby reducing the risk of cancer. It also detoxifies the body, which further helps protect from the development of tumors and various cancers. Luteolin actually poisons essential components of cancer cells when it binds to them, rendering them ineffective and unable to reproduce. This characteristic has been demonstrated most notably with prostate cancer, although there are other studies being done.

So, this week we worked with Trich to create a really yummy, healthy dish featuring dandelions greens.
